Governor Jay Inslee this week endorsed Seattle Councilmember Teresa Mosqueda in her campaign for King County Council District 8. Governor Inslee joins statewide elected leaders Attorney General Bob Ferguson and State Treasurer Mike Pellicciotti, as well as 25 current and former legislators representing the region, in supporting Mosqueda’s County Council campaign.
Governor Inslee appointed Mosqueda twice to serve on the Affordable Care Act (ACA) Exchange Board where she fought to ensure health coverage that was promised under Obamacare was delivered. Mosqueda also served as legislative coordinator for the Community and Family Health Division with the Washington State Department of Health.
Mosqueda got her start in service following her graduation at SeaMar Community Health Centers in District 8 in South Park serving Latino seniors with food security, housing assistance, healthcare, and social interaction programs.
On the County Council, Mosqueda is committed to leading on public health including community safety, healthy youth, and a healthy workforce. Her priorities include increasing funding and support for Public Health Seattle/King County, addressing gun violence, youth violence, interpersonal violence as a public health crisis, and increasing access to care by investing in behavioral health services and workers.
